Branding for Denshyo Karate Club
Our agency was contacted by Alexander Petrovich Novichenkov, a coach (1st-degree black belt in Kyokushin karate) and founder of the Denshyo Karate Club, as well as president of the public organization “Kyiv City Federation of Kyokushinkai Karate.”
His club combines a modern approach to training with a deep respect for karate traditions. Under his guidance, five European champions have been trained.
Our goal was to retain the club’s name and create a brand identity that conveys its core values - discipline, skill, and the passing down of knowledge from one generation to the next.
Meaning: The path to mastery is endless.
Mission
Develop a logo and visual identity for the club that:
- retains a recognizable brand name
- emphasizes the connection to the traditions of Japanese martial arts
- creates a strong and recognizable image for the club.
Solution
Karate originated in Japan, so we turned to Japanese calligraphy - an art form that, like karate, requires discipline, precision, and inner focus.
The name of the club, “Denshyo“, means passing on traditions.” It is this very idea that forms the basis of the brand’s visual concept.

Logo
In the logo, we combined the club’s name with a calligraphic enso circle. In Japanese culture, this symbol represents the continuous path to mastery and a state of complete concentration. In martial arts, it embodies constant development and the pursuit of perfection.

Visual Identity
Calligraphic elements form the basis of the brand’s visual identity.
The bold color palette reinforces the club’s character:
- Black symbolizes strength and confidence
- Red symbolizes the energy and dynamism of sparring
- White symbolizes the purity of technique and precision of movement.
The brand identity works well and scales effectively across various formats, from promotional materials to sports and competition uniforms.
